There are only two episodes left in the third season of Longmire, with next week's episode, entitled Counting Coup, promising some big action.

Katee Sackhoff Discusses Longmire Role

On Thursday, CarterMatt reported on some information about the episode, including a promotional still featuring the character of Branch up to some sort of gun-related shenanigans.

Of course, the shenanigans in question involve him pointing a massive gun at somebody, or something, in a convenience store. Things appear to be very serious, and clearly Bailey Chase's Branch Connally, who began the show as a deputy with ambition, has become more villainous than anything else.

Branch Will Cause Concern In Next Episode of Longmire

At least Katee Sackhoff's Vic finally told Robert Taylor's Walt Longmire about what Branch has been up to, after keeping it under wraps for weeks, so now Walt is on the case as well. It would seem that the battle pitting Vic and Walt against Branch will drive the action the rest of this season, but there are other storyline matters going on, and this will not be the full focus of Counting Coup. Furthermore, there is still the situation involving the death of Walt's wife, which is going to be addressed before the season ends, although Walt may not find the entire truth.

It has become more common for the penultimate episode of a TV drama to feature intense action and world-shattering events, with the finale left to pick up the pieces and set the plate for the next season. Whether or not Longmire follows that plan remains to be seen, but viewers will find out next week. Longmire airs on A&E on Mondays at 10:00 p.m.
