Shemar Moore will soon reprise his role as Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless for two episodes, and the actor hopes it won't be the last time he appears on the CBS soap opera.

"The fans haven't forgotten about me and it's nice to see the excitement is still there," Moore told The New York Post. "And I hope it's not the only time I can do this. I hope they write [the episodes] in a way that maybe this is something I can do from time to time."

The actor, 44, appeared on the popular soap opera from 1994 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2005. In 2000, he also won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role.

Moore's character will return to Genoa City on Wednesday, Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 to make amends with his family. He will also be reunited with his on-screen brother, Neil, played by Kristoff St. John. "I have a feeling when I get there it will feel just like yesterday and I'll give Kristoff a big old hug and jump right back into [Malcolm's] shoes," he said.

Moore, who found success as Derek Morgan on CBS' hit show Criminal Minds after Y&R, said he appreciates the soap opera for helping to boost his career.

"A lot of people get successful and it's like their soap days never happened. I'll never be that guy," he also told the newspaper. "I've always said I wouldn't be where I am today without Y&R and Malcolm Winters, and without [late show creator] Bill Bell taking a chance on me."
