A number of shows from The CW attended Comic Con over the weekend, including The Vampire Diaries spin-off series The Originals. The drama enters its second season this fall, and the show's producers used the convention the offer a sneak-peek at upcoming episodes.

The three-minute preview, teased as being "Epic" by cast and crew prior to its release, began with the return of Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) telling baby Hope about her father, Rebekah's brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan).

Holt caused quite a stir after exiting the show halfway through Season 1, but it looks like the actress is back come Season 2 has the guardian of the "Mikaelson Miracle Baby."

The innocence of Rebekah's bedtime story soon grew vicious as the true storyline of the series' new season unfolded, showing Hope's mother Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) broken at the loss of her child and Klaus staring down a number of threatening enemies, from werewolves to witches to his own father Mikael (Sebastian Roche).

"New Orleans is a vicious place" claimed Klaus and he is not wrong. Their mother has returned in the guise of a young witch and his brother Kol has also come to New Orleans, last having been seen on The Vampire Diaries.

With so many enemies and a daughter to protect, Klaus only posed one question to his brother and ally Elijah (Daniel Gillies): "Which of our parents do will kill first?"

The Originals returns to The CW with plenty of carnage and betrayal Monday, October 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
