Stand down, Madame de Pompadour and Queen Elizabeth I, Doctor Who's Twelfth Doctor will not be the flirtatious type.

'Doctor Who' Season 8 Premiere Exclusive Content Promised For Theater Release, Where Can You Watch?

Unlike Ten (David Tennant) and Eleven (Matt Smith), Peter Capaldi's regeneration will exhibit far less interest in the affairs of the heart. While his recent predecessors may have enjoyed a good flirt every now and then, the Thick of It actor requested that Twelve take a break from such matters - particularly when it comes to companions.

"There'll be no flirting, that's for sure," Capaldi said of the Doctor/Clara dynamic, according to The Sunday Times (via Doctor Who TV). "It's not what this Doctor's concerned with. It's quite a fun relationship, but no. I did call and say, 'I want no Papa-Nicole moments.' I think there was a bit of tension with that at first, but I was absolutely adamant."

Clara Or Twelve Won't 'Know What To Do' In The 'Doctor Who' Finale, What Problems Will They Face?

Unfortunately for Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman), this means that she will not be able to play off the Doctor's affections in order to make him see her side of an issue.

"From a Doctor she could sort of control, because he had a crush on her, she's landed with a Doctor who barely registers that she's a girl," said showrunner Steven Moffat, according to SFX. "They're great friends and all that but she has to be his human interface with everybody else."
