Chmerkovskiy won his very first Mirrorball Trophy in Season 18 this spring, where he competed with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. The Ukrainian-born dancer had previously competed in 12 other seasons. He took a break after Season 15, sitting out of the entire 2013 year of Dancing With the Stars, coming back for Season 18 in the spring.

"When I came back to the show, it was not the same-I was different, probably," he said. "When I came back, I saw this amazing talent...I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better. I was taking up a huge spot."

There are some rumors floating around that Chmerkovskiy wishes to be a judge on the series, though he has not confirmed or denied anything.

"Maks really, really wants to be a judge," a DWTS insider told Life & Style recently. "He's just waiting to see what Len [Goodman] decides before he makes his announcement."

Goodman, who has been a permanent judge since Season 1 of Dancing With the Stars, hinted that Season 18 might be his last with the show in the May finale.

Dancing With the Stars Season 19 is slated to premiere on Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. on ABC. The reality series will also have an accompanying results show for the first two weeks of competition.
