According to Kristen Taekman, she says she's grateful that she joined the cast of the Real Housewives of New York because it became a very therapeutic experience for her. The reality television star opens up about her issues and "the truth" about what really happens in front of the cameras for her.

In a new interview with OK Magazine posted on Tuesdaythe model mom says the show helped her realize what her strong points in her personality were, as well as her weaker ones, too.

"The show was wonderful therapy," Taekman said. "Remember the fight at the Spartan race? I watched it three times. The first time I was like, 'My husband is such an sshole! He left me! He's a jerk!' The second time I watched it, I was like 'I'm such a p*ssy. What it my problem?' The third time, it was like 50/50. I ruined my husband's day! So I have been using that. I'll pause and think, ok Kristen, you had a really sh*tty day. Don't take it out on Josh. I'm a complainer, so I know that now and I'm working on it."

Taekman also says the show was a good opportunity to reflect on her marriage with her husband Josh and how the couple are working to fix their marital issues both on and off the camera. She also says that despite their problems, she still thinks she and Josh are more "normal" than the other couples they see on reality television.

"I'm not taking all the blame for our relationship issues.," Taekman explained. "There is definitely stuff that Josh needs to work on, too. But our marriage is more balanced than viewers might think."

She added, "Marriage is really hard. It drains you. But that is the reality. Reality is not five nannies and two housekeepers. Josh and I are a normal couple with not-normal careers. What you see on screen is who we are."
