Agents of SHIELD's Grant Ward is back for season 2, and the Marvel universe won't be too quick to hand him his redemption.

John Garrett's (Bill Paxton) lackey and card-carrying HYDRA member, Ward (Brett Dalton) spent season 1 burning bridges left and right. Instead of quickly sheding his villain status for a shiny hero's cape, Ward will cause more conflict as season 2 progresses.

"We're hoping that one of the things we can do now, which we we're not allowed to do at the beginning of last season, is have a traitor in our midsts and have people betray us," Said series co-creator Jed Whedon, according to Seat 42F. "So there's a lot of fun that can be had with that, and it gives us a lot more story. It's a lot easier to generate conflict."

Despite this, the ABC series will still take time to explore Ward's back story and explain how he came to be the man he is today.

"There's a possible redemptive arc but they didn't rush it in season 2," Dalton said, according to Clevver Movies. "He's capable of good things, he's capable of bad things. I don't think he is a good guy or a bad guy."
