Fans were relieved to see that Rebekah (Claire Holt) was back in The Originals preview that debuted at Comic-Con over the weekend, but with talk that The CW star is headed to another show, it's possible that her return will be short-lived.

'The Originals' Cast Talks Season 2 Alliances

On Tuesday, E! announced that Holt has been added to the roster for NBC's upcoming drama Aquarius as Office Chairman Tully, a police officer struggling in a predominately male work environment in the 1960s. The drama will follow an undercover police officer, played by David Duchovny, in the hunt for Charles Manson and his cult of followers.

Holt caused quite a stir earlier this year when she left The Originals halfway through its first season, especially since her character had been so central to the leading Mikaelson family dynamic. Holt claimed that her exit was out of a desire to return to Los Angeles (The Originals films in Atlanta), but she said she was still thankful for all that the role had provided her and would be glad to return in the future.

It seems now, however, that he return to the vampire drama will not be the big comeback many had hoped for. Creator and producer Julie Plec has confirmed that the actress will be seen in the first three episodes, but with her new commitment with NBC it is unlikely that Holt will come back to The CW as a central character.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
