Molly Quinn, who plays Alexis Castle on ABC's Castle, admitted that she was completely shocked by the final moments of Season 6 and revealed that it will have an effect on her relationship with Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).

Quinn spoke with TVLine during San Diego Comic-Con where she discussed Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) getting into a fiery car wreck on the day he was supposed to mary Beckett.

"It's the last thing I expected them to do," she admitted, saying that she watched the scene multiple times.

Alexis and Kate had a heart to heart in Season 6 where the tension was removed from Kate stepping in as Rick's new wife-to-be.

"Kate and Alexis have such a funny relationship," Quinn said. "What I loved about that heart to heart is that it did bring up that ... it's not really about you." She added that even though Alexis likes Kate, it will always be like, "no one will be good enough" to replace her mother.

Quinn said that there will be some "tension" that arises between Alexis and Kate in the wake of Rick's car crash.

"There's some Alexis-Kate tension, if you will. It's a tough relationship," she said. "You can't help but blame those around you when something tragic happens."

On the subject of potential love interests, Quinn suggested that Alexis may be done with those for a while after the Pi character was not well received by fans.

Castle Season 7 is set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
