CBS' summer series Extant has moved from Wednesdays at 9 p.m. to Wednesdays at 10 p.m. in hopes of boosting ratings.

Will CBS' Extant Get Canceled?

If more people do indeed tune in to CBS's sci-fi series starring Halle Berry, here's what they will be greeted with. On Wednesday, Hollywood Hills reported on CBS' official synopsis press release for the fifth episode of Extant.

The episode, entitled What On Earth Is Wrong? will focus on Molly's mysterious pregnancy, and how her husband John feels about it. Molly Woods is Berry's character, and, for those unfamiliar, the premise of the show involves her going out to space alone for over a year, and then returning pregnant. This naturally raises some questions, questions that her scientist husband will broach, while he begins to question Molly's mental stability as well.

Meanwhile, Molly and John's humanoid son will suffer some sort of setback, and John and his assistant will quarrel about how to deal with said setback.

Television veteran Josh Malina will guest star in this episode, while Lou Gossett Jr. will return as Molly's father. This episode airs next Wednesday, August 6, at 10 p.m. on CBS. Will this time slot move right the ship for Extant in terms of ratings? By the time What On Earth Is Wrong? has aired, and the numbers have come in, the answer will likely be clear. The series has not been as successful as last summer's launch of CBS' Under the Dome thus far.
