Despite rumors that Robert Downey Jr. was done with the Iron Man franchise, the actor is now saying he's open to staying with the role of Tony Stark.

In an interview last week with Entertainment Weekly, Downey Jr. said he'd be open to staying with the role. "It's down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree," Downey Jr. said to the magazine. "When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement."

Downey Jr. knows that all of the films, including the Avengers series, have grossed more than the last one and that Iron Man is at the top. "This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time," he said.

Downey Jr. was just named the highest paid actor on the Forbes list once again. He earned $75 million last year, mostly from the back-end of the Iron Man series. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson came in at number two.

"It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?" Downey Jr. said. "Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out."

Although the actor didn't have a timeline or any specific news, he did say, "The future is, as usual, uncertain."
