Lorde will play a major role in the anticipated third installment of The Hunger Games.

The 17-year-old will not only record the soundtrack’s first single, she will also curate the entire album coming this fall. The multi-platinum selling artist will personally choose which other artists to include on the Mockingjay – Part 1 soundtrack.

"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” Lorde said in a statement. “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”

Lorde and the movie’s director, Francis Lawrence, met on set in the spring and spoke about a vision for the soundtrack. The director said that Lorde was on the same page with the fans and filmmakers.

“Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack,” he said in a statement. “I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson, will hit theaters on Nov. 21.

Lorde contributed to the franchise’s last soundtrack for Catching Fire with a cover of Tears For Fears’ 1985 song Everybody Wants To Rule The World.
