Dancing With the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy is not close with his Season 12 partner Kirstie Alley anymore and it may be due to a different in religions.

"Until recently ... she stopped getting along with me," Chmerkovskiy said on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live when asked about Alley. "I think the world of her."

While Chmerkovskiy said that it is not necessarily due to religion, with him being Jewish and her being a Scientologist, it has something to do with who he hangs out with now.

"I'm not judging people by their religion," he said. "I'm Jewish. I don't really believe in science fiction, whatever." He went on to explain that they "had a great relationship. I thought we had a great relationship. Now that I'm associating with other people that she can't be associated with, I am no longer to be spoken with."

It is entirely plausible that Chmerkovskiy could be referring to actress Leah Remini, a former DWTS contestant herself who is best friends with Jennifer Lopez, who has been linked to Chmerkovskiy recently. Remini also quit Scientology in 2013, and publicly revealed some of the negative qualities of the religion.

Chmerkovskiy announced this week that he was quitting Dancing With the Stars as a performer after this spring's season. The Ukrainian-born dancer won the Mirrorball Trophy for the first time in his 13 seasons on the show with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis.

Dancing With the Stars Season 19 is set to go on without Chmerkovskiy on Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
