With half of the new scripts completed and production starting this month, the second season of Showtime's Penny Dreadful is slowly beginning to take shape. With that comes questions about new characters, changing relationships and where the series is ultimately headed.

Creator and writer John Logan has been very careful about what he divulges about the program's upcoming episodes, but at Comic-Con in San Diego July 25 he did give a little insight about what fans can expect.

During Penny Dreadful's Comic Con panel (featured below), Logan teased out a more "theological" world in upcoming episodes.

"Having spent ten years building this world," he admitted, "I kind of have the first three seasons in my head."

While Logan was willing to admit that the series would be seeing another character from Dracula when the show returns, he was careful not to admit who it would be. He also noted his fascination with the classic H.G. Wells science fiction novel Island of Lost Souls and would like to eventual bring the character of Moreau onto the Showtime series.

Even with production on its way, the Victorian drama will not be back for nearly a year. However, recently Fashion and Style announced that the show's first season will be released on DVD October 7. The three disk set will include all eight episodes, as well as a number of special features diving into the technical and historical aspects of the series.
