It seems like more Huntsman and less Snow White is on the way for the sequel of Snow White and the Huntsman. But what classic film director is set to helm the fantasy sequel?

Universal announced on Thursday that they would be re-branding the franchise and switching the focus to the Huntsman, played by Chris Hemsworth. The sequel, now titled The Huntsman, is set to now be released on April 22, 2016 replacing Universal's Mummy reboot, which is shifted to a June 24, 2016 date.

The Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont is set to direct the sequel. Darabont's previous work includes The Mist, The Green Mile, and television showrunner work on both Season 1 of The Walking Dead and the short-lived Mob City.

Darabont also wrote the most recent version of the script with a previous draft being written by Craig Mazin (Identity Thief) and Evan Spiliotopoulos (recent Hercules movie).

Charlize Theron is set to reprise her role as the evil queen, but Kristen Stewart is not set to come back as Snow White.

Darabont is an interesting choice for a fantasy blockbuster sequel because his work to date has been more bleak and mellow with some contemplative elements. He is a capable director but one that really hasn't got his hands on large scale action so the transition should be an inspired one.

Hemsworth will next be seen in Blackhat, Heart of the Sea, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Charlize Theron will be in Dark Places.
