Fans of ABC's Castle were shocked by the near-tragic event in the Season 6 finale, and the show's chief operators are going to delve into the mystery of why it happened in Season 7.

The Wire Star Set To Help Beckett Solve 'Most Difficult Case Of Her Career' When Castle Returns

Castle (Nathan Fillion) got into a fiery car wreck on his way over to his and Beckett's (Stana Katic) wedding, putting their impending marriage on hold even more. Going into Season 7, Beckett will be focused on determining why and how the car crash happened, according to current showrunner David Amann and fellow executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe.

"She's committed to getting to the bottom of what happened with Castle," Amann told Give Me My Remote this week. "That's really her focus and her mission. She's going to do that, and she's going to take that as far as she can go to get answers. That's what she's focused on."

Castle Producers 'Working' On Esposito & Lanie Relationship

While the beginning of the season will be dedicating to finding out answers as to why the event happened, Marlowe is promising that the whole season will not be "filled up" with this case. In fact, it should only take a few episodes to mostly resolve itself.

"We're going to deal with it in the first couple of episodes, we're going to get back to the kinds of Castle episodes that we all know and love and expect, with a relationship that has deeper understanding, and also deeper curiosity to it," Marlowe said. "And it'll also take that relationship to a much more interesting place, we feel. And so we know the fans were a little bit like, 'What are you guys doing?' We have something planned that we're kind of excited about, and we hope that people come back and play along."

Amann added that after Episode 2 there will be many questions answered, though not absolutely everything. He said that the plan is to "reopen" the case later on, to which Marlowe suggested the mid-season two-part episode.

Castle Season 7 is set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
