Agents of SHIELD's Director Coulson can't keep his revival a secret from the Avengers forever, but that hasn't stopped him from trying.

How Will 'Agent Carter' Series Crossover With 'Agents Of SHIELD'? Hints About HYDRA & Agency's Roots

The death of Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) served to unite the disparate heroes during 2012's The Avengers, but Coulson has been secretly alive and kicking since shortly after the Battle of New York. SHIELD's newest director would like to inform Stark, Banner, Romanoff, Barton, Thor, and Rogers of his resurrection in person, but Gregg is unsure when that meeting will take place.

"I really have a lot of fantasies about literally bumping into Steve Rogers in a laundromat, and how could those exchanges get anymore awkward?" Gregg told Seat 42F at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. "And I don't get to decide where it will happen. The really fun thing about Marvel is that, for all I know, it'll be in Avengers 3 or it will be on this season of our show or it will be in a run of the comics. It could be in a video game for all I know."

Generally, it's a bit of a miracle that the Avengers don't know already. With the possibility that one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes may visit Agents of SHIELD this season, Gregg admits that it is getting more difficult to keep his existence under wraps.

"It seems trickier [to keep that secret] as Director Coulson," Gregg said, according to Seat 42F. "You think someone is going to here them say Director Coulson and someone's going to ask."
