The country star had originally voiced a positive opinion of the show's atmosphere. "Gosh, up on the lawn tonight, that was nutso," he said, "It was so cool. If you came tonight, thank you very much for giving us all the love and energy."

Urban revised his statement on Thursday upon hearing of the events that took place at the Xfinity Center during his performance, amongst which was the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl by 18-year-old Sean Murphy, who she met at the concert.

Referred to as a "mass casualty incident" by police on Fox July 28, excessive alcohol use proved to be a serious problem at the concert, resulting in the treatment of 24 attendees and the hospitalization of 22.

Murphy has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A court date has been set for September 25.
