While NBC's America's Got Talent decided on 47 of the final 48 back in July, The Today Show announced the winner of that 48th slot during the start of the quarterfinal round of the primetime reality competition series.

Today's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie were there to reveal the winner. "We got thousands of entries from around the country," explained Lauer before adding that they had to narrow it down to three before selecting a winner.

Guthrie had the honor of opening the envelope, while revealed that Cornell Bhangra will be the 48th competing act. The performance group has the advantage of having skipped the first round of eliminations, jumping right into the live shows at Radio City Music Hall. They will perform during one of the later semi-final rounds, competing against the acts which auditioned early on in order to earn their slots.

Cornell Bhangra celebrated when they heard the news, cheering as they yelled and jumped up and down, repeating their thanks over and over.

With only 40 contestants left, the NBC series will continue with the quarterfinals this week when Hart Dance Team, Mara Justine, Darik Santos, Andrei Moraru, Ariel Animation, Live, Matt and Sammy, Mat Granko, John and Andrew, Loop Rawlins, and Juan Carolos perform to stay on the program.

America's Got Talent continues on NBC with the performing acts on Tuesday and eliminations taking place on Wednesday.
