While it was disappointing for Marvel not to announce any news during Comic-Con on the upcoming feature Doctor Strange, head chief Kevin Feige did his best to give fans an idea of what to expect from director Scott Derrickson's mystical film.

What Science Show Inspired The Supernatural Journeys Of Doctor Strange?

Speaking with Screen Rant published on Monday, Feige called the movie a "mind-bending acid trip" and promised different realms and universes that the character would visit.

"With Strange, it is a classic Marvel origin story because he's got one of the best origins ever. And it's our opportunity to take that left turn into the supernatural. Now, what is the definition of supernatural? It varies," Feige said.

"We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions. The very sort of crazy - [Steve] Ditko crazy acid trip way of traveling through dimensions and traveling through other realms is something that we think is very, very cool, playing with the perceptions of reality."

Feige has already related the space travels scenes to visuals seen on the Fox science series, Cosmos, and mentioned that they were "going to play a lot with the notion of that as an explanation for how the sorcerers do what they do."

He has also stated that since Doctor Strange starts off as a scientist, he will approach magic with an eye to figuring out how things work and there will be a tension between the logic of science and the faith of mysticism. Feige said they approached the movie with a similar mindset of how the mystic arts will fit into their established universe.

Doctor Strange is set to hit theaters in 2016.
