'The Young And The Restless' Spoilers: Meredith Baxter Joins Cast As Nikki Newman's 'Drinking Buddy'
Meredith Baxter is the latest star heading to Genoa City.

TVGuide.com reported that veteran actress, 67, will join the cast of The Young and the Restless. She will play Maureen, a character that will enjoy one too many cocktails with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
Maureen is a "charming, intelligent, middle-class woman who has always aspired to a more privileged life than she's had. She appears kind and sympathetic, but can be quite manipulative. She is skilled at getting people to do the things she wants them to do by making them think it's their idea," the show's rep said.

"When not hitting the sauce with her new drinking-buddy, Nikki, Maureen will be crossing with several key players on the Y&R canvas," the rep added.
Baxter, who starred as Elyse Keaton on Family Ties from 1982 to 1989, will make her first Young and the Restless appearance on Monday, Sept. 8. The 1993 Emmy winner will also appear in more episodes throughout the fall.
The All the President's Men actress recently appeared on TV shows, including The Neighbors, Glee, Dan Vs. and Instant Mom.
