Many True Detective fans probably want Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to reprise their roles as Rust Cohle and Marty Hart on season two, but show creator Nic Pizzolatto already revealed his other plans.

The HBO show will return with a whole new cast and storyline. However, Pizzolatto hasn’t confirmed which stars will join the hit series.

Below are five actors we’d love to see as detectives on the second season.

Best True Detective Quotes From Rust Cohle & Marty Hart

Idris Elba

In the past few years, Idris Elba has become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actors. He’s proven his versatility by playing both comedic characters – Charles Miner in The Office – and dramatic roles – Nelson Mandela in the biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender, who earned an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of the brutal cotton plantation owner Edwin Epps in 12 Years a Slave, has proven that he can conquer any role.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor stole everyone’s attention as Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave and even snagged an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. The British star would be a good fit for the crime series.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt was named a possible contender for next season, and we’re hoping the rumors are true. The A-list actor is more than qualified and he would probably bring much more buzz to the HBO show.

Taylor Kitsch

Taylor Kitsch’s career isn't as lengthy as the previous actors on the list, but his role as Michael Murphy in Lone Survivor is evidence enough that he would be a great addition.
