The creator of ABC's Castle recently suggested that the show's lead character may not have been seriously injured in his car crash during the Season 6 finale.

Rick & Beckett Facing Problems Together When Castle Returns

After Castle (Nathan Fillion) was seen in a fiery car wreck at the end of last season, fans were obviously concerned for him and his fiancé Beckett (Stana Katic). Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe spoke with TVGuide.com about the event and chose not to classify the event as anything serious.

However, new showrunner David Amann, who was also in the TVGuide.com interview, teased that there would be some unanswered questions presented going into Season 7.

Alexis Will Have 'Tension' With Kate When Castle Returns

"There are going to be some unanswered questions and some really great mysteries that Castle himself is going to be investigating moving forward," Amann said to the publication.

"Why does he do what [he] does?" Marlowe added as an example question. "Why is he interested in murder? What has gone on in his past? These are rich questions we haven't really explored."

As viewers learn more about Castle's past, determining the cause of the car crash will be Beckett's number one priority at the beginning of Season 7. Beckett was last seen in her wedding dress getting ready to marry Castle when she got the news about the horrific event.

"She's committed to getting to the bottom of what happened with Castle," Amann told Give Me My Remote recently. "That's really her focus and her mission. She's going to do that, and she's going to take that as far as she can go to get answers. That's what she's focused on."

Castle Season 7 is set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
