Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi seem to be doing fine right now in their relationship, but it could all change once a new book comes out about the two of them.

In new excerpts from celebrity journalist Randy Jernigan's upcoming book The Life and Career of Ellen DeGeneres, he adds more fuel to the fire that de Rossi and DeGeneres have always had marital issues.

In the new details (obtained by blog Celebrity Dirty Laundry yesterday), he claims that the couple has always had a 'tumultuous marriage', and both have cheated on each other in the past.

He also claims that talk show host DeGeneres, who is known for being cheerful on TV, has battled with mood swings and depression in the past. This has reportedly caused her to become controlling over her wife and those around her. de Rossi reportedly dealt with her issues by drinking, which could be a reason for her May rehab visit. The author also said that she has self-esteem issues.

Radar Online first reported about Jernigan's book in July saying that the couple "both care for each other very much, but neither is good at the whole give and take aspect of a relationship." He reportedly spoke with 13 of the talk show host's friends and family members for the new book about DeGeneres and her life, including her marriage to de Rossi.
