Blake Shelton is usually the one to speak out against haters, but this week it was his wife's father who had a few things to say.

Country Singer Blake Shelton Joins The Doobie Brothers Tribute Album

Rick Lambert, father to Shelton's fellow country artist wife Miranda Lambert, spoke out against vandals who defaced images of his daughter in their hometown. The billboard featuring the singer had originally designed to pay homage to the town's famous former resident and had been paid for by the town's rotary club to serve as greetings upon entry into Lindale, Texas.

"My wife and I just shook our heads and thought some ignorant fool that doesn't have enough to do [is] destroying property…" explained the retired police officer on Hollywood.com on Friday. "Lindale's trying to be proud of a local girl."

Rick then added "If it's jealousy or if it's drunkenness, whatever, it's idiocy either way."

The Lindale, TX billboards were painted over, with a white moustache drawn across the singer's face earlier this month. Dallas News first reported the crime on August 4. Though the vandals have yet to be caught, the incident has been declared a class A misdemeanor.

As of Monday, Miranda and Shelton have not commented on the incident. She is currently out touring the country to promote her latest album Platinum, which hit stores June 3. The typically expressive Shelton has also remained silent on the act of vandalism.
