Much of the speculation around X-Men: Apocalypse is around who would be joining the villain Apocalypse as his Four Horsemen and it seems like some of the rumored names could be the truth.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Could Feature One Major Death & Alternate Timelines

According to reports by KDramaStarz, the mutants who will be showing up as the Four Horsemen are Archangel, Holocaust, Exodus and Selene. Archangel is the only member who has appeared in the films. Ben Foster played the character in X-Men: The Last Stand.

This would make sense after Archangel was a rumored name by writer Simon Kinberg recently, but the other names are new to the X-Men movie franchise.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Star Signed For Five More Films

While Foster has said he would be open to returning as Angel, they may elect to go younger since his character was technically a younger mutant in The Last Stand. But the fact that the canon was erased in Days of Future Past may mean a return by Foster could happen.

As for Holocaust, in the comics, he is the son of Apocalypse and serves as one of his father's Four Horsemen in the Age of Apocalypse timeline. The first assignment that Apocalypse passes unto Holocaust requires the latter to spy on the X-Men in order to launch an attack on the group when the opportunity arises.

Exodus was born in the 12th century and known as Bennet du Paris. He was a crusader and became best friends with Eobar Garrington, the Black Knight of that era. Exodus was in league with Apocalypse in the 20th century but turned on him and was imprisoned in a crypt in the Swiss Alps.

Selene is labeled as a 'psychic vampire,' able to drain lives of others in order to extend her own. She was born 17,000 years ago and is linked with X-Men: First Class villain Sebastian Shaw.

Having Archangel and Holocaust as two of the horsemen seems plausible. Both have direct ties with the comic book storyline and seem like doable characters to bring into the franchise. As for Exodus and Selene, the latter seems like a stretch but her ties to Shaw from First Class are an interesting connection. Exodus could be someone who is initially with Apocalypse but turns and joins the X-Men later on.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
