With news that Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss might be in the running for a role on True Detective comes talk that another AMC star could be making the jump over to the HBO series.

'True Detective' To Take After Classic 'Chinatown' For Season 2

Recently The Wrap announced that Michelle Forbes could be joining the criminal drama's cast for season two. No stranger to dark, brooding dramas, Forbes previously stared on AMC's The Killing.

While The Wrap believes Moss is currently being considered for a female police role, Forbes is rumored to be up for one of the wives, either that of businessman Frank Semyon or the haunted Ray Veicoro. It is believed actor Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, The Internship) will be playing Semyon, with Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) in talks for Veicoro.

'True Detective' Getting A Female Lead For Season 2

Forbes has made quite a career for herself on television, playing the distraught mother Mitch Larsen on The Killing and overzealous Maryann on HBO's True Blood. She's also appeared on NBC's Chicago Fire and the cult sensation Orphan Black.

This year she's been busy filming a role on part two of Mockingjay, the final installment of The Hunger Games films. Still, the one-and-done nature of True Detective makes it easy for big name stars to step into roles for a single season without any commitment to continue on the series in the future.

True Detective continues on HBO with a second season in 2015.
