Katherine Heigl Opens Up About Real Reason She Left Grey's Anatomy

Geena Davis, who starred in 1991's Thelma and Louise, will guest star on Grey's Anatomy this fall, E! News reported. The 58-year-old will play a surgeon with a "major guest arc."

"Geena Davis is scrubbing in at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital this fall!" the show's Twitter page teased on Aug. 8.

Kate Burton To Reprise Her Grey's Anatomy Role 

Davis is no stranger to television. The actress starred in the A&E miniseries Coma in 2012 and played President Mackenzie Allen on ABC's Commander in Chief from 2005 to 2006. Her most recent movie role was 2013's In a World..., which was directed and written by actress Lake Bell.

The 58-year-old also won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Accidental Tourist in 1989.

Season 11 of Grey's Anatomy premieres on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on ABC.
