On Thursday, MTV revealed that Mahone was nominated for the new category Best Lyric Video. Mahone is up against Demi Lovato, 5 Seconds of Summer, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande. Mahone is nominated for his song Mmm Yeah. Lovato is nominated for Really Don't Care, 5SOS is nominated for Don't Stop, Perry for Birthday and Grande for her hit Problem.

For this category fans actually get to vote for who they want to win. For Mahone to win, fans can vote on Twitter, Instagram and Vine with the hashtag #voteaustinmahone. Previously Mahone had won last year in the Artist to Watch category.

Mahone has been tweeting up a storm about it this new award, too. He wrote Thursday with a Vine video, "#VoteAustinMahone please VOTE! I need your help!!" He also wrote yesterday, ".@Zach_Dorsey and I are wondering if you #VoteAustinMahone ? Well DO YA???"

Mahone is currently on his summer tour with openers Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes and The Vamps. They will be hitting up Manchester, NH tonight and Boston, MA tomorrow. But, Mahone will be at the MTV Video Music Awards. He even asked his fans to dare him to do something. "watch the #VMA Red Carpet on Aug 24th at 8PM to see what #DareAustin arrival I'm doing!! #5TruthorDare" he wrote yesterday.
