With "The Dark Knight Rises" apparently being the very last film of the Batman franchise for the Nolan team, many are left wondering, what's next?  On the horizon for the highly respected franchise could potentially be a "Nightwing" movie.

Nightwing is Dick Grayson, who becomes the original Robin in the story.  The character grew up in the circus until he was about 8.  However, his parents were murdered by Tony Zucco.

Upon seeing the death of Grayson's parents, Bruce Wayne has an instant connection with the boy.  After adopting Grayson, Wayne goes on to reveal his identity to him as Batman.

The two-some grow close and eventually fight crime together for quite some time.  However, as Grayson grows older, he begins to form his own set of morals and values.  The crime fighter's ideas then begin to conflict with each other and eventually Batman fires him. To the displeasure of Wayne, he ends up dropping out of Hudson University and moves to Bludhaven to resume his crime fighting career.

Grayson takes a trip to visit Clark Kent.  On the recommendation of Kent, Grayson drops the name Robin and starts going by the solo name Nightwing.

When asked about the possibility of doing another Batman, "The Dark Knight Rises" director extraordinaire Christopher Nolan had the following to say, according to Entertainment Weekly:

"I loved doing these movies, but you can't be creatively greedy about it," said Nolan.

"It's time to move on," he added.

Christian Bale, who plays Batman, had the following to say in regards to a potential Batman reboot: "No, no, no. That wouldn't be hard. I'm going to have to do it with Batman. They're going to rejuvenate it soon, and I'll have to be watching someone else play it. I'll be fascinated to see which way they go, which choices that actor takes."

With the ending to "The Dark Knight Rises" leaving endless possibilities open, it seems highly unlikely that another director would not want to capitalize on the vast potential of the Batman franchise.
