Joe Caputo (Nick Sandow) was promoted to the assistant warden position at the end of Season 2 of Netflix's Orange is the New Black, and it seems that he will be met with some "compromises" in Season 3.

After Fig (Alysia Reiner) "stepped down" amid embezzlement charges at the end of Season 2, Caputo rose to her position. Sandow spoke with Vulture recently about how he thinks Caputo is going to run the prison going forward.

"How do I think he's going to run it differently? It's a good question. I don't think Caputo really knows," Sandow said. "I don't think he's the kind of guy that has any plan. I don't think he's the kind of guy that has absolutely anything up his sleeve. On the first and second day of his new job, he's just trying to keep his head above water. Do I think that he'll go about it without embezzling and these other things? Yeah, I think that he's got a sense of wanting to do the right thing."

He added that it is quite difficult to continue doing the right thing, however, due to the faults in the prison system.

"I think there's a lot of compromises along the way and once you get in a higher position, those compromises become more profound," he said. "He's certainly going to get faced with those. I think that at the crux will be Caputo's battle."

Sandow also said that while he has watched both premiere episodes, he has not really watched the show beyond that. He said that he likes to be "inside" the show and not necessarily know what else is going on beyond his own character, since watching everyone else would "influence" him too much.

Orange is the New Black Season 3 will presumably begin streaming in Summer 2015 on Netflix. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for streaming.
