HBO's True Detective took home the Emmy for Best Title Design over the weekend during the non-televised portion of the award ceremony, prompting curiosity as to what will happen with the title sequence for Season 2.

'True Detective' Could Nab Fall Slot On HBO For 2015

The network has always taken great care with opening sequences, from the detail-oriented morgue shots from Six Feet Under to the grand three-dimensional map layout for Game of Thrones. True Detective's theme song is Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family and it's possible that the song will stay, but a new cast and setting will inevitably prompt a new title sequence.

According to True Detective Rumors on Tuesday, fans will be paying close attention to the drama's new opening, but the official segment won't be released too soon. After all, the opening sequence includes the cast and crew, neither of which has been announced just yet.

'True Detective' Gets A New Setting, New Characters For Season 2

The only guaranteed name to receive a credit at this point will be series creator Nic Pizzolato, who will also be writing the new episodes.

Like True Blood, the first season of True Detective had a religion-heavy opening, cutting together rural church segments with images of the cast and landscape. It is uncertain at this time whether the same editors will be used, or if the sequence will opt to keep the same tone or branch out into something different.

One thing is for sure -- HBO will try to make the most of the segment. Regardless of its content, the opening will aim to pack a punch.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in 2015.
