Although True Blood is known for its vampires drinking blood, actors aren't actually expected to drink it off the show. But, Jim Parrack (Hoyt) recently admitted he drinks it for real.

On Monday, Parrack told Vulture that he actually drinks blood in his real life. "I was being literal," he said about saying he liked to drink it. "I like the real deal."

Although he said he doesn't drink it on a "regular basis," he does drink it a couple times a year. Why? " I guess for the same reason some people want alcohol? Or for the same reason some people want, I don't know ... milk? Or Kool-Aid?"

"It's more like on an impulse," he said about drinking blood. "When you make me spell it out like this, it sounds strange." He also added he likes the way it tastes.

Parrack, who is now engaged to Hunger Games actress Levin Rambin, admitted that back in the spring he drink his "girl's" blood.

He also said that he doesn't drink "copious amounts of blood. I'm not getting a glass of it or something."

"But if you drink it, it does something to you emotionally," Parrack added. "It's hard to describe. It's kind of like you're in the moment, and the impulse comes, and ... I like it."

True Blood airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
