Gladiators prepare yourselves, Portia de Rossi's Scandal character will not be one to be trifled with.

The Arrested Development star will ditch the stair car and head to Washington for season 4 of the hit ABC drama. Set for a multi-episode arc, de Rossi's unnamed character will be "a very formidable person," according to TV Line. Unfortunately, it is unknown whether or not de Rossi will be on Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washinton) side.

While the production has said little regarding de Rossi's casting, Ellen DeGeneres was quick to reveal her wife's latest project.

"So annoying when people brag on twitter & that's why I'm not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on "Scandal". Oops," the comedian tweeted in late July.

Unfortunately for de Rossi, she will not actually get to go to D.C. for filming. Instead, the politically charged series will continue to shoot in Los Angeles.

"I wish, I hope, I want to," said series creator Shonda Rhimes regarding plans to move production to the nation's capital, according to TV Line. "It's expensive to go there, for any production. But we'd like to. We hope to. We're trying to save our pennies."
