Miranda Lambert turned quite a few heads this summer when the country star traded in her long locks for a shorter 'do. Now, the Automatic singer is going for an even edgier look.

Blake Shelton 'Celebrates' New Single With Wife Miranda Lambert

 "Fresh cut! Fresh color!" declared Lambert on Instagram Tuesday. "Somethin' bout PLATINUM! Thanks @amandacraig12! Love you".

Platinum is, of course, the singer's latest album, which has been topping the charts with hits like Automatic and the Carrie Underwood duet Somethin' Bad. Beside the caption Lambert included a photo of her new style, no makeup and all smiles as she stood beside hair and makeup artist Amanda Craig.

The natural blonde opted for light, golden layers with a more dramatic face frame than her previous short hair. The sudden change was a lot to take in the first time around. Lambert even considered backing out, but this time there was no hesitating in keeping her hair short.

Lambert has been touring this summer to promote her new album, with recent stops in Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. She heads to Raleigh, N.C. Thursday before moving up the coast into New York.

Recently the singer celebrated the release of husband Blake Shelton's new single Neon Light off his new album Bringing Back the Shine, due out September 30.

This October the couple will meet up for the Route 91 Harvest Festival, which will be the first ever country musical festival to take place in Las Vegas. The event will begin October 4.
