Atlanta Exes star Monyetta Shaw, who was once engaged to So Sick singer Ne-Yo, has revealed the details behind their split and confessed he called off their engagement over the phone.

She told Sister 2 Sister magazine Monday, "He did and it stung a little; however, he was at home the week after and we sat down and discussed everything. It wasn't crazy, fussing and fighting type thing. We're two adults, and we handle ourselves in that way. Yes, emotions were high. I didn't see it coming, but people change."

Her statement clears up speculation that Ne-Yo dumped Shaw via Instagram during the 2013 BET Awards weekend.

Shaw added that they were already broken up for two months before then and it was actually her idea for him to announce the split. She just didn't know he would do it on social media during one of the biggest weekends in the music industry. On top of that, he strutted the red carpet with another woman.

Still, she confirmed that they still live together with their two children. She candidly said that he is barely home so that makes it easier. But it wasn't always that way. Shaw also revealed that she had a hard time at the beginning stages of the clip because she could not get over "what we were."

While the two are still on good terms, she did say that she was blindsided by Ne-Yo's seemingly abrupt decision to call it quits but has decided to move on.

Atlanta Exes airs Mondays at 9/8c on VH1.
