Survivor Set For 90-Minute Premiere Episode With 18 New Players In 'Blood vs. Water' Twist

The Motion Picture Editors Guild representing the Survivor editors reached a deal Wednesday with Burnett's Island Post Productions to receive industry-standard health insurance and pension benefits, per Deadline. This ensures that about 30 of Survivor's editors will be receiving the benefits effective Thursday.

The editors briefly went on strike last week after Burnett's company failed to immediately acknowledge their desire for better benefits. Assistants and loggers will be receiving higher wages as well.

This puts Survivor right on track to be able to air its premiere of Season 29 on time. CBS set the premiere date for Wednesday, Sept. 24, which was called into question after the editors went on strike. However, with over a month left to edit, there is still plenty of time.

The 29th season of Survivor is officially titled Survivor: San Juan del Sur and is taking the series back to Nicaragua for the first time since Season 22. The reality series has spent the past four editions in the Philippines.

Survivor: San Juan del Sur will featured the "Blood vs. Water" twist again but this time with all new players. Nine pairs of loved ones will be entering the game and playing with (and against) each other.

Survivor: San Juan del Sur is set to premiere Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
