Is American Idol, the hit Fox TV show, losing its musical appeal to the rest of the world?

Randy Jackson Tells Oprah What Really Happened Between Mariah and Nicki

In a recent report by Yahoo!, albums of previous winners were compared based on album sales. A sharp decline started with Jordin Sparks, the sixth winner of the show, was the first album to not sell over 240,000 or more in its first week. Sparks' album sold 119,000 units. Since then, album sales have been declining sharply, with Caleb Johnson's debut Testify only selling 11,000 copies. The only singer since Sparks' album to sell over 200,000 units in the opening week has been David Cook.

Speaking of Cook, the singer has been trading comments back and forth with Johnson about who is a more true rock n' roller. Johnson said in an interview that Cook could not play songs by Rush or Led Zeppelin. Cook responded by making statements at a live show explaining that someone said he could not play rock n' roll, which ended with Cook and company playing A Whole Lotta Love live relatively perfectly.

$10 Million Allegedly Withheld From American Idol Winners

The audition caused such a riot that Hung released three albums -- three albums released by someone who did not even make it past the audition stage. The 'star' recently found true love and is married now, in case anyone wanted to know.
