However, it was not anger but something else that prompted Shelton's statement against narrow-minded thinking on Thursday.

"Sad that a few morons out there don’t think we all deserve our own point of view," he lamented in between responding to fans on Twitter. "Our own vision of happiness. Nope. Only room for theirs."

Shelton's regretful remark is almost striking in comparison to his usual demeanor, and while some fans reacted in jest a number took his statement to heart, claiming that he shouldn't bother himself with such negative people.

Shelton released the first single for his own new album this week, Neon Light. The album itself, entitled, Bringing Back the Shine, is set to hit stores September 30.

While the two recently spent some time together, Shelton and Lambert will continue with their separate tours for the remainder of the summer until they team up again for Las Vegas' the Las Vegas 91 Harvest Festival in October.
