Devious Maids has had a loyal fan following but the signs aren't all looking positive that that show would be returning for a third season.

Colin Woodell Leaves 'Devious Maids' For 'The Originals'

Despite closing its second season in mid-July, Lifetime has not yet made an announcement concerning the show's status for a third run on TV-and the actions of some of the show's stars could be ringing some alarm bells as to whether or not fans need to worry about the show returning.

In addition to Colin Wooddell, who portrayed Ethan Sinclair during the show's second season, main series stars Rebecca Wisocky and Judy Reyes have also booked new television gigs-and while they are only guest appearances on Fall schedule shows that wouldn't conflict with filming schedules for Devious Maids, the actors seeking other roles isn't necessarily a good sign for the show.

Roselyn Sanchez Says Lifetime 'Needs' Show

Wisocky, who portrays Evelyn Powell, has officially signed on to join ABC's Castle in its seventh season, and will portray a scientist.

"Devious Maids star Rebecca Wisocky will guest-star in the seventh season's third episode, clear & Present Danger. She will play Dr. Elena Sarkov, the lead scientist at a cutting-edge research lab, whom the team consults when a pool shark is murdered by a mysterious unseen force," Hollywood Hills reported. "Other details about her character are being tightly guarded, but it sounds...like the show won't waste a lot of time getting back to its case-of-the-week structure."

Reyes meanwhile, has also booked a guest-starring role, and will appear on iZombie. According to Entertainment Weekly, her character's name will be Lola Abano, and she will be an artsy bohemian who becomes the prime suspect when her artist husband is murdered.

Devious Maids ended its second season on July 13, but there's been no word yet on the show's possible return-something that could be a concern as viewership numbers weren't at the same level of the high ratings in the show's first season.

The drama did face some stiff competition in its 10 p.m. timeslot on Sundays this season, getting beaten by a wide variety of shows, including HBO's Silicon Valley and The Leftovers, AMC's Mad Men, Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of New Jersey, Adult Swim's Bob's Burgers, TLC's Return to Amish, TNT's Falling Skies and Discovery's Naked and Afraid.

Lifetime has yet to announce if the drama will be renewed for a third season.
