The Big Bang Theory fans hoping that Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) will be walking down the aisle in Season 8 might have to wait a little longer.

Penny Getting A New Hairdo on The Big Bang Theory?

Steven Molaro, the showrunner of the massively popular CBS sitcom, spoke with TVLine recently about Leonard and Penny and revealed that they probably wouldn't be getting married in Season 8.

"I can't say for sure [a wedding will not happen this season], but I doubt it," Molaro admitted. "They're in a great place. They're the kind of couple where they can be engaged for a while and that's fine."

The Big Bang Theory Season 8 Premiere Date Revealed

Part of the delay in the wedding is due to Penny finally making a career change.

"In the first episode back [on Sept. 22], she will embark on a brand new career, and that will be taking up a lot of her time and energy," Molaro explained. "Bernadette [Melissa Rauch] has helped to get her a job as a pharmaceutical sales rep at her company. She is going to put her failed acting career on the backburner for a while."

Penny will actually be "extremely well suited" for her new pharmaceutical job due to her experience as a people person.

Fans don't have to worry about never seeing the wedding, though, considering The Big Bang Theory will be on the air for three more years, at least. CBS renewed the sitcom for Season 8-10, allowing it to stay on the air until 2017.

The Big Bang Theory Season 8 will have a one-hour Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
