Nick Cannon is the one who initiated his divorce with Mariah Carey, according to a new report.

TMZ reported that the Wild 'N Out host is "deeply concerned about Mariah's emotional state and is ending the marriage for the well being of their kids."

Sources also told the website that the couple's 3-year-old twins - Monroe and Moroccan - are already showing signs of distress living with their mother. The 33-year-old wants his children to grow up in a more peaceful place. "He believes the environment is toxic and fears for his kids," the source said about Cannon.

Mariah Carey is Heading On Tour Despite Divorce

Yet, the comedian reportedly wants his lawyers to settle the divorce peacefully.

Rumors of Cannon and Carey's divorce broke last week and initial reports stated that the two, who wed in 2008, weren't getting along for months. Cannon confirmed the split last Thursday.

"There is trouble in paradise," he confirmed with The Insider. "We have been living in separate houses for a few months."

TMZ previously reported that Carey has forbid the America's Got Talent host from saying a word. Her lawyers have created a strict confidentiality agreement and it's apparently "one-sided."

Cannon could face "severe financial penalties" if he discusses the divorce while Carey, 44, is able to announce their breakup whenever she sees fit.
