Things are about to take on a rough star when Downton Abbey returns especially for Anna and her husband since they're going to have some obstacles to face.

Saddening Event To Take Place In 'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Premiere?

On Saturday, Vanity Fair spoke to Joanna Froggatt (Anna) during her appearance at the BAFTA tea party where she mentioned how it'll pick up for her character. As difficult as things may seem, there might be a little spark of hope that Anna and Bates will be able to pull through this.

"They start Season 5 in a not-so-positive light," Froggatt said. "Obviously they have a lot to overcome and it won't happen very quickly. And they may never get to the end. There's still this cloud hanging over them. They're trying to find the space to heal themselves and move forward with their lives."

Will Someone Die In Season 5 Of 'Downton Abbey?'

After Anna was raped by Mr. Green last season, he was killed in a car accident...or so it seems. Rumor has it that Bates could have something to do with this , which is going to create some tension between the two.

"There's also the issue of Mr. Green's death," the actress said. "Which keeps getting brought back up. It's difficult to escape this thing they're trying to escape. There are some moments of happiness though."

This leaves a number of questions on what kind of happiness Anna and her husband will have and if it'll be enough to keep them going strong.

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to return to the United States in January 2015 on PBS.
