Nominated for her work as Selina Meyer, Louis-Dreyfus  snagged the honor over five other contestants. This marks the third year in a row that Louis-Dreyfus has left with the Lead Actress Emmy.

The 2014 Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category was also home to Lena Dunham, Edie Falco, Amy Poehler, Melissa McCarthy, and Taylor Schilling.

Lena Dunham scored her nomination for her portrayal of Hannah Horvath on HBO's Girls. This marks her third nomination for the character, and her eighth nomination for Girls as a whole.

Melissa McCarthy was also nominated for her guest stint on Saturday Night Live, but it was the actress' work as Molly Flynn on CBS' Mike & Molly that landed her a spot on the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series ballot. McCarthy walked away with the same award in 2011.

2014 marked the fifth year that Eddie Falco was nominated for the Lead Actress category as Nurse Jackie's Jackie Peyton. The Showtime series prompted her Lead Actress win in 2010.

Amy Poehler received her nomination for her portrayal of Leslie Knope in NBC's Parks and Recreation. 2014 is the sixth time Poehler was nominated for an award in relation to Parks and Rec.

Taylor Schilling made her Emmy debut for the role of piper Chapman on Orange is the New Black.
