In June country singer Tim McGraw opened up about what is was like to discover that his father was really baseball player Tug McGraw. While the two were never close when the performer was growing up, the 'Meanwhile Back At Mama's' singer is heavily involved with the Tug McGraw Foundation.

On Monday Look to the Stars announced that the Tug McGraw Foundation and Team McGraw will be getting together with Team Red, White, and Blue for the 39th Annual Marine Corps Marathon.

"It's exciting that Team McGraw and Team, Red, White, and Blue are joining forces for such a monumental event like the Marine Corps Marathon," declared the singer. "We all know that physical activity is a key elements to maintaining overall health, but that also includes brain health."

Tim went on to discuss the benefits and goals of the event. "The spirit behind the race is simple," he explained. "And I think we can all support the great initiative of promoting physical activity. I wish all the military men and women as well as civilians good luck on race day!"

The Tug McGraw Foundation is designed to help those suffering from brain-related complications, while Team McGraw is part of the foundation's sports program. The Marine Corps Marathon is known as the third largest in the United States, with over 30,000 people taking part in the run.

Tim's relationship with Tug was a complicated one. He discovered that Tug McGraw was his father upon stumbling across some old documents in his mother's closet at the age of 11. While he went on to attend a few of his father's games, the baseball player did not really acknowledge the by as his child.

The 29th Annual Martine Corps Marathon is scheduled to take place on October 26.
