After five years together, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and actor boyfriend Matt Prokop's relationship is over.

Fan debate started after Prokop said he was getting off of Instagram last week. His last post was a collage of pictures of him and Hyland. His new bio said "Taking a break from insta" Prokop's last tweet was on August 17. "Here comes that sun again... Means another day without you my friend."

Us Weekly reported Tuesday that the two had in fact split up. Her rep also confirmed the news. "Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out," a source told Us. "She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends." It was reportedly an amicable split.

The two first met while auditioning for the film High School Musical 3: Senior Year. The couple lived together in California and also shared a dog named Barkley Bixby together. They also starred in Geek Charming on Disney Channel together back in 2011. "Pros, it's cheaper," Hyland said of living together to AOL TV that year. "Cons, we're both really lazy. So, laundry and dishes, we complain about that."

Hyland hit the Video Music Awards Sunday night Solo looking amazing in a Kaufman Franco gown. Last night, the 23-year-old went with a girlfriend to the Emmy Awards and wowed in a Christian Siriano crop-top and skirt. She was later seen celebrating with co-stars including Sofia Vergara.
