Despite ending its second season over a month ago, there has still been no word on whether or not Lifetime would renew Devious Maids for a third season-but star Ana Ortiz still appears to have hope that the series will come back once more.

In an August 19 interview with WPIX 11 to promote her Active Family Project, Ortiz talked a little bit about the status of the show, and while she did admit that the cast still hasn't heard anything about potentially being renewed, she still thinks they have a good chance of reuniting for a new season.

"Lots of talks but we still haven't heard officially, but we have high hopes," she said in the interview. "I mean the fans really want it, so we'll see."

And while she couldn't confirm anything, she did admit that she'd love to see her character, Marisol Duarte, become a bit more evil.

"I don't know, Marc Cherry, who's the creator likes to keep his cards really close to his chest, but for me, I'd really like to see Marisol, my character, get even more devious, more wicked," she said. "Maybe hang out with the Powells a little bit, so there could be a whole lot of possibilities."

Devious Maids ended its second season on July 13, but there's been no word yet on the show's possible return-something that could be a concern as viewership numbers weren't at the same level of the high ratings in the show's first season.

The drama did face some stiff competition in its 10 p.m. timeslot on Sundays this season, getting beaten by a wide variety of shows, including HBO's Silicon Valley and The Leftovers, AMC's Mad Men, Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of New Jersey, Adult Swim's Bob's Burgers, TLC's Return to Amish, TNT's Falling Skies and Discovery's Naked and Afraid.

Lifetime has yet to announce if the drama will be renewed for a third season.
