Country artist Tim McGraw released Shotgun Rider on Tuesday, a new single of his upcoming album Sundown Heaven Town.

"This is one of those songs that really paints a picture and sets a mood," explained the singer on Radio.com.

McGraw's previous single off the new album was Meanwhile Back At Mama's, the hit duet with wife and fellow artist Faith Hill. This new song, which debuts on the radio, will have a slightly different feel and tone.

"There is a certain warmth to this song and several others like it that really establish the tone of the whole album," continued McGraw, noting that the single is all about seeing "the person that you love next to you sitting in the front seat."

It's too early to tell whether or not the single will be a hit, though it does have the momentum of the popular duet to fall back on.

McGraw released another song also called Shotgun Rider in 2007, but the two are not related.

Over the last month the country singer has made a number of stops on his Sundown Heaven Town tour, including one in Atlanta that nearly ended in legal action after he got into a confrontation with an overzealous fan.

Last week McGraw changed things up a little when his youngest daughter performed on stage during his concert, showing that the girl certainly inherited her parents' gift for music.

Sundown Heaven Town will hit stores on September 16, 2014.
