Dreamworks will release the third installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise on December 23, 2015. The movie will also feature the return of stars Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross and Dustin Hoffman.

Right now, plot details are scarce with the only synopsis being that Po and his gang would continue on their adventurous journey.

Producer Guillermo Del Toro teased what to expect over a year ago, telling Collider, "We basically talked about where we would go in the third one in the second one. We really finished [Kung Fu Panda 2] with the real father of Po saying 'My son is alive,' so that allows us to continue that arc of Po as a character," Del Toro said.

"All I can say is the bad guy in the third one is possibly the most formidable villain in the series... We finished an outline, we presented a character design, we presented a couple of sequences in storyboard, and we're very hard at work on a screenplay."

That formidable villain could be voiced by former Bond bad guy and current Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen, who is rumored to be a part of the film.

As for a love interest for Po, it seems like Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson will be joining the cast as a possible romantic partner for the hero, voiced by Black.

Other rumored voices include Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston in an unspecified role.
