It appears that Kathy Bates will be playing a "bearded lady" in the upcoming fourth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Freak Show.

A new promotional poster for American Horror Story: Freak Show, released via The Hollywood Reporter, featured the principal cast set to star as their roles in the new season. View the poster here. The most interesting revelation from the poster is Bates sporting a healthy beard, suggesting that she will play the popular carny attraction, The Bearded Lady. Bates' character name in the new season is Effil Darling

It also appears that Angela Bassett's Desiree Dupree is a woman with three breasts, based on the photo.

The poster also features new cast member Michael Chiklis as Wendell Del Toledo, a "strongman" with a very thick mustache.

The two focal points of the poster, however, are Jessica Lange's Elsa Mars, who seems to be just as fashionable as her Coven character, Fiona Goode, and Sarah Paulson, who is playing Siamese twins Dot and Bette Tattler. Paulson's character(s) is seen hanging above all of the other characters, looking on curiously.

Other actors featured in the poster are Denis O'Hare, Evan Peters and Frances Conroy.

The poster also includes the hashtag "#WirSindAlleFreaks," which translates from German to "We are all freaks." The German hashtag seems to be a reference to Lange's character, who is a German expatriate who is in charge of the freak show.

All in all, the poster is an indication that Freak Show will be full of colorful, unique characters.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. on FX.
